Ukraine and Norway have agreed to extend bilateral and transit transportation between the countries without permits until September 30, 2024. This information was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure of Ukraine.
Future Plans
In August this year, a meeting of the relevant commission will be held, where further extension of the “transport visa-free” regime with Norway is expected. “Our goal is to ensure the possibility of permit-free transportation for Ukrainian carriers to as many countries as possible. Currently, we have agreed with Norway to extend the previous Agreement, and we hope that soon the term of the ‘transport visa-free’ regime will be prolonged. The liberalization of transportation will help Ukraine not only increase freight volumes but also integrate into the European and global transport system,” said Serhiy Derkach, Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure of Ukraine.
Conditions and Requirements
The liberalization of cargo transportation is possible for vehicles meeting the Euro-5 environmental standard or higher. During transportation, drivers must have a certificate confirming the ecological class of the truck.
History of Agreements
The first agreement on the “transport visa-free” regime with Norway was reached in August last year. It was valid until June 30, 2024. In total, Ukrainian carriers have access to the “transport visa-free” regime with 37 countries, including EU member states. Over the past year, in addition to Norway, Ukraine has agreed on the liberalization of cargo transportation with North Macedonia, Turkey, Moldova, Georgia, and Montenegro.
