From May 8 to 10, FIATA represented freight forwarders at the 6th AEO Conference organized by the World Customs Organization in Shenzhen, China.
1100 participants from 109 countries discussed the future of AEO programs and ways to improve them, including:
- Addressing challenges related to the certification process and accessibility of AEO programs. The importance of providing guidance and support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and logistics entities to make AEO programs more accessible to them;
- Ensuring that AEO-certified companies receive tangible benefits. The importance of collecting concrete data on expected and realized benefits in different regions in a standardized way;
- Improving communication between business and customs to gather input on actual industry needs in different regions, which is crucial to ensure that AEO programs remain relevant and responsive to industry needs
